BEAUTIFUL THINGS: onetwothreefourfive.

I thought I'd start a weekly feature where I could showcase some items that have recently caught my eye and I've been lusting over ever since. They might be pretty, they might be quirky, they might be a little odd, and they might revolve around German football (surprise surprise). Whatever they may be, they've caught my eye for a particular reason and thus, they're share worthy!

(On a side note, my birthday's on December 7th...and I love presents...ahem...)

Why is it Twitter Tuesday? Well, for no reason other than that it's Tuesday...and I've finally set up an active Twitter account. That was a fun story, I know. So I guess you can now call me a Tweeter! (.....is that even what they call people who use Twitter? Who knows.. Who can even keep up with the newfangled technological terms the kids are coming up with these days...)

So, follow me on Twitter @DishaSchweinski! Be a man. Do the right thing. #RussellPeters (Oh snap, there I go with my excessive #hashtags #winning #ThisIsSoGreat)

Swagath is one the Mukherji family's all-time favourite restaurants, owing completely to their exceptional food and service. From the servers to the managers, everyone is kind and makes your dining experience a grand one. But what keeps us coming back over and over (and over and over and over) again is their fabulous food. They specialise in Mangalorian, Malabari, and Chettinad cusine though they are also pretty good when it comes to their North Indian food (omg their tandoori chicken). With its focus on South Indian coastal food, it's seafood is spectacular. With a menu as extensive as theirs (I should add they also make Chinese) it's crucial that you know what to order to make your meal a special one. What, you ask, is their star dish? The one item that catapults them to the top of many a list of ridiculously delicious foods? What (at least) keeps us coming back for more?

Butter garlic anything.

That's right, you heard me. Butter garlic anything. Their butter garlic sauce is to die for. It's a molten mix of what seems like buckets and buckets of butter and freshly fried garlic, to which you add a seafood of your choice. Butter garlic squid, prawn, pomfret, bombay duck, surmai, and a range of other kinds of fish. The winner hands down, however, is their butter garlic crab. Unimaginably sweet and soft crab meshes with the rich, luxurious gravy to create a party in your mouth. The combination is so perfect, so perfect. I honestly have no words to explain how this is hands down the greatest item of food on the planet. Great, now I'm hungry again...

Today is August 23rd, which essentially means that I've got a grand total of one month left in India before I return to London for another nine months. I don't know how I feel about this. Yes, I'm ridiculously excited to go back to London for many reasons - starting my new, exciting courses at SOAS, meeting my friends once again, revelling in the freedom and independence that one gains from living alone, and exploring what is undeniably one of the most multicultural, vibrant, and quirky cities in the world. Also, as this year's President of the SOAS Turkish Society, I know that I am also going to be extremely busy with society activities and events. This in particular is one thing I'm really looking forward to - I'm humbled and so proud to have been elected President of what was undeniably the society I most loved, and was most involved in over the past year. I've also got a new project planned in collaboration with SOAS Radio, which I will be writing about once it takes off in the months to come. Stay tuned! Another somethingsomething that's in the works is a solo 10ish-day trip through Prague - Vienna - Bratislava - Budapest. I've been wanting to visit these beautiful cities and Reading Week in November is as good as a time as any other (well, summer would be ideal but hey, beggars can't be choosers!)

Alongside all this excitement, running on a muddy, uneven parallel road, are the few reasons why I'm torn about returning to London. Actually, let me frame that correctly: *are the few reasons why I'm upset about having to leave India*. There we go, that's more accurate. I'll miss my family LIKE CRAZY SJLDFHSLJFHSKJDHFSKFHSLKJFDS.  I'll miss the comfortable life I lead while I'm back at home. I'll miss not having my loved ones constantly pottering around me. I'll miss not having to vacuum my room and I'll definitely miss not having to buy my own groceries and lugging them for what seems like miles back to Dinwiddy.

Well, there we have it. Mixed feelings at it's best? Let's be honest...no, not really. I'm so lucky to have been given the opportunity by my lovely parents to attend university in London, and I'm going to make sure I seize said opportunity by the horns. Here's to what is going to be a fabulous second year in London.

Sighs, I suppose I'll just have to learn to love vaccuming and grocery-lugging.

When I decided to start Güzel Günlerimiz I swore to myself that I wouldn't dwindle for too long between posts and leave the masses un-entertained. The past ten days of inactivity, however, have flouted my own personal rule and left me frustrated with my lack of commitment. Why am I taking this so seriously? Because it's in my nature to start projects (be it a blog, a handmade hair accessories business, or self-teaching myself German) with a colossal amount of enthusiasm, only to abandon said project after a few weeks... Well, upon finding another quirky hobby that piques my curiosity, of course. I suppose I have a valid excuse this time though. I'm interning at Penn Schoen Berland for six weeks this summer and I'm having the time of my life. It's a great atmosphere to work in because the people are fun, cool, and good at what they do. Today, for example, in celebration of Eid, our boss ordered in biryani and mithai for the entire office. MMMMMMM. If you're interested in politics, media, and market research and communication, I strongly suggest you check out their website to see the kind of work they do. Some of their notable clients include Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, who they backed during the re-election campaigns! Cool stuff, I know. I work 9 - 6, five days a week, and though I'm not doing any physical work, sitting on my butt for nine hours makes me crave a couch, the tv remote, and a continuous supply of food to be placed in front of me the second I reach home.

While going through my archive, I decided it was relevant to post a couple of pictures from a beautifully sunny day in May when Anna Banana, Noury, and I decided to visit Portobello Road. Why relevant? Yesterday, after a ridiculously long period of time, Nour and I were able to battle the terrible time difference between New Delhi and New York City, and Skype for an hour-ish. Now that she's back in the US to finish her final year of university, I won't see her for a while - well, till she visits me in London teehee (Nour, I hope you're reading this). I love how going through our old pictures never fails to make me giggle and reminisce over our the great memories we built in such a short period of time. Good times, good times.

Me and my breakfast Börek, which kept me full all day! For some reason, the Turks serving me in cafe wouldn't reply to me in Turkish except for a Görüsürüz! in the end...it was odd and disconcerting and my flawless Turkish and I were offended. Geesh.

I swear to God, su böreği is one of my favourite foods on the planet and this one in particular was just...OOOMMMPPHHHH. +1 for tangy feta and creamy spinach compressed between layers of soft doughy pastry.
